Interactive versions of the site’s cost model. Each tool prints a modeled range, labels it “Modeled estimate, not quotes” and links to the method. None of them asks for your details.

Tree removal cost calculator

The tree removal cost calculator runs the same arithmetic as the tree removal cost page. It asks for your state, because the model’s crew-hour rate is $225 in Oregon and $210 in Washington, built from the BLS May 2025 mean wage for tree trimmers and pruners, $35.40 and $32.20 respectively, times 1.6 for burden and overhead, plus equipment [1]. It asks for a height band, because the band sets the crew-hours: 2–4 for a tree under 25 ft, up to 14–30 for one over 80 ft. Then it asks the three questions that change a bid most: is the trunk within 10 ft of a structure (×1.25), can a truck and chipper reach the tree (×1.3 if not), and is a crane needed ($1,500–$3,500 for the day). Stump grinding adds $4–$6 per inch of diameter with a $150 minimum.

The output is a range rounded to $50, with the label and the method link, and nothing else. It does not add permit fees, which run from no charge in Portland for applications since July 1, 2025 [2] to $600 plus a 3.5 percent surcharge in Kirkland [3]; the permit fee table on the tree removal cost page covers those. It does not ask for a name, an address or an email.

Using the numbers

A modeled range is for sorting bids, not for replacing them. Take the range to the quote line-by-line checklist on the tree removal cost page, ask each bidder for the same lines, and then compare. The modeled ranges for trimming and stump grinding, and the reasons real quotes land outside them, are on tree trimming cost and stump grinding cost.

More tools are planned as the site collects quote samples and storm data for Washington and Oregon. Nothing is listed here until it works and its method is published.

Comparing quotes? Check these eight things first.

Two quotes for the same tree can differ by thousands. The gap is usually in what's included, not the cutting.
