Privacy policy

When you read the site

The site is hosted on WordPress.com. Like most websites, the host records standard server information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of visit, and may use cookies for security, performance and aggregate statistics (Jetpack Stats). We use this information only in aggregate, to see which pages are read and to keep the site working. The host’s own practices are described in the Automattic privacy policy.

When you call the number on the site

The phone number on the site is a call-tracking line. When you call it, the call-tracking provider and the tree service that answers receive your phone number and call details (time, duration, and in some cases a recording if the call announces it). That information is used to connect you, to attribute the referral, and for quality and billing. After the call, the tree service that answered handles your information under its own policies.

Tools and calculators

The cost calculator, permit checker, risk checklist and reach calculator run entirely in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us or stored.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal information.
• We do not run quote forms, email capture or ad-tracking pixels.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Washington and Oregon residents may have additional rights under state law, including Oregon’s Consumer Privacy Act; because we do not hold personal records about readers beyond the host’s standard logs, most requests can be handled by the host or the call-tracking provider. Changes to this policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
